No One Loves You Better Than Rickey! The Rickey Godfrey Band has just released a new single "No One Loves You Better Than Me" on the 120 Soul Street CD from 120inc and has already climbed the charts to #20 on the Beach Music Reporter's Chart. The song was written by Nashville songwriter Bobby Wood and SC songwriter Mary Fielder. The single is already receiving play both in the clubs and on the radio. Be sure and ask your favorite DJ to give it a spin!

"Can't Change My Heart" is Now #3!Thanks to the continued support of all the Fans, DJ's and industry professionals, "Can't Change My Heart" is Number 1 again this month on the Beach Music Reporters' Top 50.

Rickey Godfrey
Vocals, Guitar & Keyboards

Rickey was born in Greenville S.C. in 1956 the third of four children. His musical training began at the age of 7 while attending the South Carolina School For The Blind. He studied classical piano and voice and in 1970 began guitar lessons as well. In 1972 he joined his first band “The Fresh Licks”, a rock band that won the 1972 South Carolina Battle Of The Bands. In 1974 Rickey and his brother Ronnie, formed their own band “Garfeel Ruff” and were signed to Capitol Records in 1979. While with Capitol, Garfeel Ruff scored and played most of the soundtrack for the movie “The Hitter”. In 1979, The Garfeel Ruff Band also released an album on Capitol Records entitled “Garfeel Ruff”, which went to number two that year on the Carolina upstate rock charts. A few years later some material recorded in 1979 was released on another Garfeel Ruff album entitled “Born To Play” which was wildly received by their fans. In 1984 Rickey released a solo album, “Let The Big Dog Eat”, which sold well in the Southeast. During the mid 80’s Rickey teamed up with boogie pianist, Rudy Blue Shoes Wyatt, and he played on an ADDY Award

winning jingle for Foto-Mat. Rickey also played on studio recordings with Sonny Turner, Anita Ward, Bill Pinkey, and Clifford Curry. Interest from record labels led Rickey to move to Nashville in 1993. Once in Nashville, Rickey began working with artists Donna Fargo, Rufus Thomas, Junior Walker, Sam Moore, and Billy Preston. Rickey has performed throughout the US, Canada and Europe, and has become well known in Nashville for his outstanding musical abilities. In 1994 he played with “The Amy Watkins Band” as they won the Nashville Music City Unsigned Blues Band Competition, in 1997 with another band “The Blues Boyz” won The Pete’s Wicked Ale Blues Competition winning over 35 Nashville area bands. In 1999 Rickey co-wrote “Plumber Man” with Clifford Curry and over the next two years co-wrote produced and played on “She Shot A Hole In My Soul Again” also with Clifford. In 2002 Rickey joined “The SugarBees” a Beach Boogie and Blues Band based in S.C., as lead vocalist. Rickey performed with the band live and recorded with them on several projects. Their cd, “My Baby’s Got It” reached #5 on the Rhythm and Beach charts and the single “Hold You To Your Promise” reached #3. A second single was release by the band entitled “Give It To A Good Man” on the Ripete Records compilation Cd “Beach Party” , this cd reached #1 on the Rhythm and Beach charts, and charted at #4 as a single. In February 2003 Rickey teamed up with Greenville SC keyboard player Bobby Simmons, also previously with The SugarBees, and formed The Rickey Godfrey Band. In the spring of 2003 Rickey released a duet “Never Let You Go” with Myrtle Beach singer Andrea Keesee which reached the top 20. During the summer of 2003 The Rickey Godfrey Band recorded a new single “Can’t Change My Heart” released on Mossland Records, which was voted the #1 breakout song of Fall SOS. “Can’t Change My Heart” reached #1 on the Beach charts in the winter of 2004. In November 2003 Rickey and Andrea Keesee won a Cammy Award for “Best Duo” with the song “Never Let You Go”. The band is currently performing live throughout the Southeast, and Rickey has just released a new CD entitled “Soul Sensations” on the Mossland Record Label, which contains all 4 hit songs as well as 7 other favorite cuts.

Marty Ojeda
Vocals- Saxophone- Keyboards

Originally from Logan West Virginia, Marty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Musical Performance from West Virginia University in 1991. In 1996 he relocated in Nashville Tennessee and performed in the house band at the legendary Starlight Club for several years. Over the last few years Marty has performed with The Bellamy Brothers, Brenda Lee, The Lynns, The Temptations, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, and the popular Nashville show band The Blues Other Brothers. Marty has just released his first solo single entitled “My Heart’s Got A Mind Of It’s Own”.

Tom Toglio “T-Bird”
Vocals-Drums

Originally from Columbia South Carolina, T-Bird joined his first Soul band as a saxophone player at age 14, and later switched to drums as his main instrument. Since that early beginning Soul and R&B music has been his way of life. In 1967 his band The Charms were the first band to open at Jack’s Palace a favorite South Carolina nightspot. During the 70’s T-Bird joined the Southern Rock Explosion and moved to Nashville to do session work and live audio production. After an extended road career with music greats The Isley Brothers and Rob Crosby he is happy to be back to his roots playing his favorite music.

Randy Coleman
Vocals-Bass Guitar

Originally from Philadelphia Pennslvania, Randy has 30 years experience on Electric and Acoustic bass. He has performed with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Huey Lewis, Little Feat, Robert Cray, T. Graham Brown and Jo-el Sonnier to name a few. He has appeared on TNN Prime Time Country, Crook&Chase, and The Grand Ole Opry. He appeared in a production of “A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline” as Joltn’ Jim McCoy and bassist Lightin’ Chance. Randy owns Colemine Studios in Nashville and spends most of his free time producing and recording while not on the road with the band.

Bobby Simmons
Vocals-Keyboards

An Upstate South Carolina native, Bobby studied music for 12 years playing brass horns and piano. while playing in several local bands and doing session work. Bobby has performed both live and in the studio with The Tams, Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs, Sonny Turner, Bill Pinkney, The Reflections, and Billy Scott. In 2003 Bobby and Rickey formed The Rickey Godfrey Band with the idea that quality is first priority both live and in the studio. Their first production together “Can’t Change My Heart” was voted the #1 song of Fall SOS 2003 and reached #1 on the Hottest 50 Beach Music Charts in the winter of 2004. Bobby and Rickey have also formed a new record label “Mossland Records” to promote their production projects. Their current project is a new CD of The Tams, with a new CD of their own soon to follow.
